Going here, going there, doing this and doing that. Who has time to come up with variety lunch ideas for toddlers? It is sooooooooooo easy just to open a can of SpaghettiOs, throw in in the micro and walla – the kids have lunch. Only problem is that the meal is is not as healthy as it can be or should be.


With the proper guide to follow and a little preparation, your toddlers can enjoy a healthy and fun lunch. Here are just a few toddler food ideas of many that are available.


  • Bite size sandwich squares made with tuna or chicken

  • Chicken soup

  • Crunchy vegetable sticks (carrots, celery) with low-fat ranch dip (for older preschoolers)

  • Nearly frozen applesauce

  • Melon of all types: Watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew with non-fat whipped cream

  • Ants on a Log: Peanut butter on celery with raisins

  • Mud & Dirt: Low-fat pudding with crushed graham crackers mixed in

  • Peanut butter on half of a whole-wheat bagel

  • Whole-wheat crackers or whole-wheat tortilla with salsa

  • Hummus and pita wedges

  • “Light” microwave popcorn with grated parmesan cheese (for children three years and older)

  • Mini-pizzas: Half an English muffin covered with a tablespoon of tomato sauce, then topped with part-skim mozzarella cheese
